Oreo Peppermint Bark
Ingredients:
Wilton Candy Melts (Bright White and Red)
Bob’s Sweet Stripe Peppermint Sticks
10 Oreos
Supplies:
Microwave safe bowl (2)
Gallon size plastic bags
Mallet or Magic Bullet Blender
Spatula
Parchment Paper
Line a baking sheet or pan with parchment paper. Trust me, you’re gonna need it.
Place Oreos into a gallon size plastic bag. Seal the bag and get to pounding away! You want to have nice large crumbles, but not too chunky. Spread oreo crumbles evenly across parchment paper.
Melt white candy melts in a glass microwave safe bowl. Start by microwaving them for 1 minute and stir. If they aren’t melted completely continue to microwave in 15 second bursts until you have an even smooth texture.
Spread melted white chocolate over oreo crumbles. Feel free to mix them about until well combined.
This is where I pause to tell you guys about the wonders of my Magic Bullet blender. I’ve had mine since I was in college and it has been nothing short of amazing. I use it to grind herbs and coffee, to make smoothies and home made whipped cream. It’s inexpensive and almost all of the parts are replaceable. Okay… I’ll stop.
But for this project, I used my blender to get a fine powder with the sweet stripe candy canes. This will add another texture to the chocolate and give a rich peppermint flavor. If you don’t have a magic bullet, put the peppermint sticks into a gallon plastic bag and beat with a mallet until you have teeny tiny pieces. set aside. Save 2-3 Peppermint sticks and break them into bigger chunks. These will be your garnish.
Melt red chocolate the same way you did the white then mix in peppermint powder or chunks and spread over your white chocolate oreo mixture. While the red chocolate is still wet, finish the Oreo Peppermint Bark with the chunks of peppermint stick.
Chill for 20 minutes then cut or break into pieces and enjoy!
