Rainbow Layer Cake

on February 15, 2016
My little Noah  is turning 6! I seriously can’t believe it. His mom asked me to help plan the food his Rainbow party and of course I said yes! I’m a bit in love with this cake and even though I tore up my kitchen TWICE and ended up with food coloring all over my hands (don’t ask)… and the dishes for this were a beast. But…

The thing with kids parties is that you don’t need to go over the top to be classy and have fun. Your life does NOT have to be over the top to be pinterest worthy. And honestly, I think kids at this age are just happy their friends are around and having fun.

Anyhoo, we looked around and really just fell in love with this Rainbow Layer Cake from Love and Olive Oil. And while it was a bit daunting, I made sure to try it out before hand just to make sure it would turn out right. See, I’m more of a cupcake gal, so a whole cake felt pretty out of my league. Especially one like this!

Recipe: Anti Valentines Day Cookies

on February 12, 2016

Every year my friend throws an Anti-Valentines Day party where we watch action movies, drink wine and eat a ton of chocolate. Why?  Because we’re single and still want the chocolates and greeting cards and dinner. I guess there’s a new trend to call  it “Galentines” day. I kind of like that idea, except that I have some single dude friends that would be a little insulted.

DIY Jewelry Box

on February 8, 2016

We’ve been very into coloring pictures and pipe cleaner jewelry over here… like I leave with at least 6 pipe cleaner bracelets every time I come over. Its pretty amazing actually.

The kiddos had the idea that they wanted to make special ones and give them to mom. I asked what was so special and of course Noah pipes up and says “LOVE”. Needless to say my heart was melted. We wanted to make something cute that Mom could keep her knick knacks in so a DIY Jewelry Box it was! The cool thing about this is that it was made entirely of things found at the Dollar Tree besides spray paint! ( I had on hand) Holler for a dollar! Continue reading

Red Velvet Rice Krispies Squares Recipe

on February 5, 2016
Okay, so I’m going to start this off by saying that I only recently started liking Red Velvet. Why? I always felt it was overrated, but most importantly the times I’d tried it, the cake had this horribly chalky texture to it that I couldn’t stand.. oh! and the cream cheese icing they had? Totally slimy. I’m a texture eater. I cannot lie. But in the last year or so I’ve had some AMAZING red velvet cupcakes with just the right hint of cocoa in them and NO chalky texture to give me the heebie jeebies, and so I have had to rethink my stance on the flavor.

Also, let it be said, adding raspberry flavor to chocolate does not red-velvet make. That is not red velvet and not delicious… unless you’re into that…. but don’t call it red velvet.

DIY Essential Oil Shower Soothers

on February 3, 2016
Do you ever just walk into lush and look at all those delicious bath bombs and fizzles, dreaming of yourself luxuriating in a bath full of bubbles and luscious scents? Yep, me too. Then I realize that I don’t really have a bathtub and I get a little sad. Nope, I’m not paying that much money for a bath bomb when I don’t even have a bath.
But I still want a fancy shower with aroma therapy and all that fancy stuff. So what is a girl to do?

10 Glorious Game Day Snacks

on February 2, 2016

The day is upon us Football fans! Whether you’re a Bronco’s fan or a Panther’s fan, its going down!

I must admit, I’m not the biggest football fan. I only recently understood what a “down” was, and lord help me if you ask me what a safety is because I have NO clue. But I LOVE watching the games, especially the Super Bowl, I used to watch it only for the commercials, but since I’ve fallen in with a group of super fans, I really enjoy watching the game, if only for their reactions.

Quick and Easy Taco Dip

on February 1, 2016
Okay, so sometimes I forget that I have to bring food to things. I know! You’re saying Chelsea, thats not you at all! Truth, but it happens.

So I was working last Monday and checking my email and what did I see? Oh crap! It was my group’s turn to bring food to bible study. That kinda put a damper on things. So I’m scouring my cabinets to see what I have available that doesn’t really take a long time to cook, but will be really impressive. Thats a tall order, I know.

And then it it me, Taco Dip! I’d had this dip at a party forever ago, and due to its flavor and lack of beans (ew), it quickly became one of my favorites. Its even super easy to make! My sister (who burns water – I love you A!!!) makes it for her get-togethers all the time.

Easy Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods Recipe

on January 29, 2016
I LOVE baking with kids. So much so, that when I went over to hang out with Noah (5) and Peyton (2.5), Peyton promptly asked if we were making cookies. I could not handle the cute.

Alas, we were not making cookies that day, but I think they had fun regardless. Noah was very careful with his decorating, while P was more interested in the sprinkles that were stuck on her fingers and the chocolate that came with it. (there was a lot of hand washing going on)
