My Cleaning Playlist

on August 21, 2018

Brush on your home survival skills or clean in beast mode with this cleaning playlist.

Can we talk about the cleaning process for a minute okay? I am totally that person that hates cleaning – nothing is gross and dirty, just messy and cluttered. I put things away and then can’t find them or it takes forever when I’d rather be doing something else, like knitting and watching netflix. When I do actually get around to cleaning, I pretty much follow the 5 year old method which is, clean until you find something you haven’t played with in a few months then realize an hour has passed. Yep. I need a grown up!

Scratch that. Because I am my own hero and I am 31 years old. I am a damn grown up and I can get this done even if I don’t like it. Also, for those of you out there procrastinating because its never going to be perfect – just go for it. Its gotta be better than nothing right?

Okay, but in all seriousness, I definitely need some “mood music” when I clean, its like beast mode for my vaccum cleaner. It keeps everything fun, I dance around and get all the things picked up. Also, I’ve had close to the same playlist for a few years now. Some songs get added but when it works, it works ya know?

What are your favorite songs to clean to?

May Music Playlist

on May 23, 2018

Check out the Do It Your Freaking Self May Music Playlist 2018! Great for jamming out to while you’re crafting or doing homework!

Hi! **Peeks head out from behind computer and chemistry notes** I promise I didn’t forget about you. School however has been kicking my butt and I’m ready for a break. I honestly thought I could do it all – work, school and running the blog. I was doing well there for a minute – RE January and February – but then it all fell apart and I’ve been struggling to keep my head above water while also trying to maintain some semblance of mental health. I guess what I’m trying to say is that its okay if you can’t do it all. Sometimes you’ve gotta prioritize and get things done so you can come back to things.

CROCHET IT: Crochet Cactus Hat Pattern

I will tell you guys that I haven’t necessarily been idle during this time. I mean, yes… I was studying, but I was also crafting – mostly to keep myself sane. I had to start blocking out days to do laundry and meal plan etc – aka adulting as well as blocking out time to craft. I (for some reason) am able to hold it all together better if I actually make time to do it without pressure of posting. So, I have some projects backlogged. They’ll make it up here sooner or later especially since I have finals in less than 2 weeks and then I’m taking the summer semester off of school.

GET LAST MONTH’S PLAYLIST

In the meantime, I’ve been making playlists. I use film scores to study and usually podcasts and audiobooks to drive and craft. Sometimes though, I get to play music with actual words and then I make playlists. Here’s my May Music Playlist – I had hoped to have this out earlier but see above. Summer Jams are happening soon and I wanna hear what you’ve got planned!

The 2018 April Playlist is HERE!

on April 3, 2018

Grab your headphones and listen up because the DoItYourFreakingSelf 2018 April Playlist is here for your listening pleasure!

When I was a kid, I made mix cd’s for EVERYTHING. It was legit like Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist – though, I didn’t make 12 breakup mix cd’s. Maybe like 2 and they were for no one’s ears but my own. I digress. Mix CD’s. I’m a bit old school in that I feel like more work went into a CD. You could only put 80 minutes on there – MAX and it was so important to get the order and flow of the mix just right. I’d spend hours trying to get the perfect ins and outs of the playlist. Making sure that each song flowed well into another or had the same theme. Not to mention that these mixes had to be created using music you already “owned”. I say owned because I was very expressly forbidden from illegally downloading music and iTunes hadn’t come along yet. I’m aging myself here.

2018 April Playlist #Playlist #SpringMusic

Anyway… one of my goals for this year (2018) was to create a monthly playlist and while I know I’ve fallen short, I’m attempting to dive in a bit. I creating this April Playlist for you guys featuring some of the music I’ve been jaming to over the last few weeks. And yes… I did stress out over song order thankyouverymuch. There are some lines that just jump out at me that I had to share, some new tracks, some old tracks… Its just what I wanted to put out there for you guys.

Fall Playlist 2017

on August 23, 2017

Gear up for the season with 14 songs for a fall playlist to set your mood and get ready for your favorite fall activities.

Fall. Is it here? Is it not? All I know is that Starbucks is already stocking Pumpkin Spice Syrup and I’m totally okay with that.

Gear up for the season with 14 songs for a fall playlist to set your mood and get ready for your favorite autumn activities.

As a lot of you know, I’m definitely a person who has to have music to get into the “mood” for basically anything. If I’m cooking, there’s music. If I’m writing, music. If I’m crafting… oh yeah! Usually I try to choose a playlist that goes with whatever I’m doing and as I’ll working on fall content over the next few weeks, I wanted to share my playlist with you. I’m not gonna lie, I went on a total dive down in Spotify land and maybe had a few too many dance parties. Well, there are never too many dance parties so whatever, my room mate and cat just keep looking at me weird.

Amp up your summer music selection with a fun but possibly embarassing playlist of some of your favorite summer guilty pleasures!

Amp up your summer music selection with a fun but possibly embarassing playlist of some of your favorite summer guilty pleasures!

Summer is half over and I gotta tell you guys, I am in desperate need of some windows down, fist pumping, singing at the top of your lungs action. But alas, I’m stuck in traffic. And I kinda don’t care? Is it bad if I annoy the car next to me with “Call Me Maybe” or “Come On Eileen”? Nope. No it is not. So I’m gonna do it. But with the windows up. Because it’s hot. And I don’t want to waste my air conditioning. Or something like that.

Since I’m on this quest to embrace my inner dork and be super open about it,  I thought I’d share my Summer Guilty Pleasures Playlist with you guys. So whether you wanna jam with me or sing really loud or quietly snicker about the fact that I know ALL the words to “Summer Girls” AND “Teenage Dirtbag”, pop over to Spotify and have a listen! You know you want to!
