Sometimes a Jammie Dodger is just a cookie… but sometimes its a TARDIS self destruct button. Usually though, its just a cookie and a ploy to make Daleks believe its a self destruct button. Yep. Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey stuff. Shout out to all of my Doctor Who, Torchwood, Adventures of Sarah Jane, and Class fans. This Jammie Dodgers recipe is for you!
Okay, so flash back a few years. I had just met my dear friend Natalie (who makes awesome jewelry! Check it out) and she was having her 30th birthday party. I had NO CLUE what I was walking into but I ended up finding my tribe… or one of them. You see, Natalie and all of her friends were Doctor Who fans and well, so did I and that was the start to a beautiful geeky friendship. Isn’t it kind of amazing how you find your people when you’re least expecting to?
If you’re unfamiliar with Doctor Who… well that could take a while to explain so I’m just going to direct you to Amazon Prime where you can stream it all to your hearts content. Start with BLINK then go back. Trust me on this one.
Do you remember your first encounter with Star Wars? I don’t really. I just remember growing up with it being a staple of family movie nights. When they did the re-mastered re-release in the 90s, I remember my dad taking us all to the theater to see it in surround sound on the big screen. IT WAS AWESOME!
As an adult, I still experience childlike glee everytime we have a marathon or get to share it with someone else. You guys, I went to Disneyland and got to meet Darth Vader and Chewbacca. Lets just say I checked something off my super geek bucketlist. I was so thrilled that I sent all of my families (people that I babysit and nanny for) photos and posted them on Facebook.
Most of the boys I babysit are OBSESSED with Star Wars. Some of them have never seen the movies, but they know who Darth Vader and the Death Star are. My favorite person to share this with though, is my little P. She’s about 2.5 and LOVES Chewbacca. I mean LOVES! She asks her mom almost daily to see the photos of me and Chewy. She loves him so much to the point that one night, as we’re eating dinner, she just looks really thoughtful and looks up and says, “I love Chewie” in the most wistful voice imaginable. Guys, she is 2!!!
When I brought these Wookie Cookies over for photos (because her brother has legos perfect for taking photos!) she knew immediately who they were supposed to look like. “That Chewbacca?” Here’s to raising them with the important things!
