Cold weather is on it’s way in! That is, unless you live in California where it’s in and then it’s out and then it’s in again. But yeah, so cold weather. I am so down for it. One of my favorite things to do when it starts getting cold is throw on my batman onesie and some cozy slippers, and curl up with a good book and a hot cup of cocoa. Oh, and the cat. We can’t forget kitty cuddles. Does anyone else have a cold weather tradition?
Anyway…. these easy crochet slippers are on my “handmake for people” christmas gift list. They take a few hours to make and are great for getting rid of excess yarn. For these easy crochet slippers, I used left over yarn from my hogwarts house ear warmers so now I have matching sets! But like I was saying, not only are they super cozy and easy, they make great gifts. Because everyone needs cozy footware.

Easy Crochet Slippers
Makes adult size slippers – size W 6-10
If you’d like to make kid sized slippers, simply change your needle size and follow the same pattern. A J hook will make up to a size 12 for kiddos.
Size N crochet hook
2 skeins worsted weight yarn – I used some extra Red Heart super saver yarn in complimentary colors or 1-2 skeins chunky #6 yarn
Yarn Needle
Key:
ch – Chain
HDC – Half Double Crochet
Slst – Slip Stitch
SC – Single Crochet
Row 1: Start with a magic circle and HDC 12. Pull magic circle tight and join by slst into top loop of first HDC. This will complete your foundation circle. (EDIT: If you’re working with worsted weight yarn, this is worked with two strands. If you’re working with chunky yarn, only use one)
Row 2: HDC 2 into each HDC around. Repeat until end of circle (24). Join with slst into top loop of first HDC. ch 2
Row 3: HDC 1 into each HDC around. Repeat until end of circle (24). Join with slst into top loop of first HDC. ch 2
Row 4-10: Repeat round 3.
Add more rows for a longer foot.
Row 11: HDC 1 into each HDC leaving 6 stitches unworked. ch 2 and turn work
Row 12-15: HDC into each stitch on the row. (18 st) ch2 and turn work.
Row 16: sc into 9 stitches or about half way into the flat piece of your work. Fold in half with the inside faceing outward and slst together. ch 2
Flip the heel part back rightside out!
Row 17: HDC around the cuff of the slipper. You’ll have anywhere from 24 to 30 stitches. I try to stick to 24 for a more standard cuff, and larger for a looser one. Whatever you’re comfortable with.
Row 18: HDC into each HDC around. Repeat until end of circle. Joint slst into top loop of HDC. ch 2
You can keep adding rows until you get a cuff of the desired height. I find 5-6 rows are good for a fold over cuff.
Once you’re finished, cut your yarn and fasten off after the last slst to join rows. Weave in ends using your yarn needle.
Wear or wrap in ribbon and a cute gift tag for a beautiful hand made present!

Those little slippers are so cute. Not sure my crochet skills are up to them. Love the multi coloured ones.
November 20, 2016 at 2:50 amThey’re actually a really easy project for beginners. I’m intermediate at best. It took me a few tries and a lot of youtube videos to figure it out, but once you have the basic stitches down you can make almost anything!
November 21, 2016 at 6:58 pmFabulous, now I know how to use up some of that worsted weight yarn that I have hanging around! thanks for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!

November 25, 2016 at 6:51 amThanks for pattern. Are these made with 2 strands of thread?
December 18, 2016 at 10:29 amYou can work them in 2 strands of worsted weight or 1 strand of chunky/super bulky #6 yarn. Happy making!
December 18, 2016 at 10:33 amI love this pattern and hope to crochet it at a later date. I just have 1 question. This question pertains to Row 11. As written, it says to crochet 18 HDC into each HDC around leaving 6 unworked stitches. Is it meant to be to crochet 1HDC into the next 18 stitches with leaving 6 stitche s unworked? Your clarification on this would be appreciated.
January 7, 2017 at 2:33 pmOMG you’re right!!!! Thanks so much for catching that! Just fixed it!
January 7, 2017 at 6:22 pmJust like you said, super easy and super warm. I am teaching someone to crochet from starting with the chain stitch and this is her first project. She is loving it1 Oh by the way, Row 11 is a hoot! Can you imagine someone putting 18 stitches in each stitch until there is only 6 left? Talk about ruffles!!! and then repeating??!!! LOL
January 7, 2017 at 4:04 pmOMG! That would be hilarious. Thanks for catching it! It should be one HDC in each ?
January 7, 2017 at 8:10 pmWould love to try these, but I need to print out the pattern and can’t find a link to do so….otherwise, my printer says it would require 13 sheets of paper. Am I missing something? (I tried to highlight the section I wanted, did a ctrl P and wanted to print just the selection I highlighted, but for some reason my printer does not give me this option on this project)

September 17, 2017 at 4:32 pmChelsea, these are by far the easiest and fastest crochet slippers to make! And I’ve made LOTS of slippers. So easy to adjust sizing AND I especially like not having to “sew.” Thank you for the pattern and the recipients thank you too! :o)
November 25, 2017 at 6:38 amSo glad you like them!!!
December 1, 2017 at 10:28 pmLove these! I am stuck on how to do the fold part. And where you join? Please help, I left the 6 six stitches and am now lost!
January 7, 2018 at 4:38 pmOkay, so for the heel, you’re just going to work that swatch back and forth for a few rows – don’t worry about those 6 stitches yet- and once you’ve got the heel part as long as you want it, you’re going to single crochet to the center of the row.Flip the heel inside out and slip stitch those together.
If youre not into that, you can also tie it off before doing the single crochet and stitch the heel part together (if that makes sense). From the back of the work, you’ll start working the cuff around the ankle hole, picking up those 6 stitches as you go along.
Hope that helps!!
January 8, 2018 at 9:23 pmlooking for a size 11 for men crochet slipper pattern
March 22, 2018 at 1:50 pmHi Lupe! You can definitely modify this pattern to fit a size 11 mens foot. If you need to expand the width, add 1-2 stitches into your magic ring (so 13 or 14 instead of 12)
To make it longer, add a few rounds before starting the heel until you get to the desired length. It definitely helps to have the foot present to check for a good fit 😉
