I don’t know about you guys but I know next to nothing about football. I know that I’m politely supposed to cheer for the host’s favorite team and yell really loudly when the appropriate team scores, but thats really about it. So why do I go to football parties?

Let’s be real here… I’m at your house for the food and maybe the betting pool. Awesome buffalo wings? Yes please! 4 different kinds of dip? BRING IT ON! So is it any surprise that my Gameday shirt for this year’s party says “Here for the Food”? I didn’t think so.

Besides myself, I also LOVE to bring my quick and easy Taco Dip and Stacy’s Pita Chips to a gameday party. They’re super versatile and healthy, there are tons of flavors and they don’t break in the dip! That last one is very important. Trust me.

I made this fun gameday shirt in an hour, so if you’re in a rush for what to wear for the game (or you’re like me and own NOTHING that is game day appropriate) I can help you out.

What you need:
Football Jersey style T-shirt – We must at least look the part
Handmade Charlotte letter stencils
White chalk
Ruler
Foam pouncer
White fabric paint
Piece of posterboard or card stock

Just like with The Snuggle Is Real Sweatshirt, start by washing and drying the shirt to get the sizing out. Once its dry, insert the cardstock or posterboard to act as a bleed through barrier. Punch out the scrap of your stencils and get ready to make!

Using the ruler and chalk, draw a line directly down the center of the neckline on the front of the shirt. This will make sure the words are centered. The shirt already has a line straight across that we’re going to use to keep everything even.

Time to paint:
Using the center line and top seam as a guide, paint with your foam pouncer. You’ll want a light amount of paint on the pouncer so you don’t get globs of it leaking through the stencil. Since this phrase is 7 characters (including a space) you’re going to center the “T” in team and work left and right around that.

Remove your piece of card stock and allow the front to dry.

Back of the shirt:
Use your ruler and chalk to create a center line. Then add 3 lines toward the upper back center of the shirt with the chalk.

From here you’re going to stencil “HERE FOR THE FOOD” or whatever other sassy saying you’d like. You’re going to work the same way down the center so for HERE, you’ll stamp HE on the right of the center line and RE on the left. I started with the RE to make sure my spacing was correct. Then E and H. A bit backwards, but it works for evenly spaced letters.

Use the same method for “FOR THE” just center the space and “FOOD” on separate lines respectively.

Allow the shirt to dry for at least 12 hours. Wash and wear! And don’t forget the dip. I’m serious. Don’t forget it!

Girl. You are my SOUL sister! I too know nothing about football…except that there are usually chicken wings involved, and amazingly fun finger foods. AND you’ve created a DIY for the occasion? LOVE <3

Haha!! I absolutely love football, but I definitely need to make this shirt for one of my girlfriends. Then again, I really love food too so I could probably get away with wearing it myself 🙂
