How do you eat your oreos? Are you the kind of person that splits them apart, licks them and sticks them back together? Do you dunk them in milk until they’re nice and soggy (guilty)? Do you split them apart and take out the cream (also guilty)? No matter how you eat them, I have yet to find someone that doesn’t like oreos.

There are a ton of ways to eat these delicious sandwich cookie and even more ways to decorate them! With this DIY, the goal was to use accent colors for my Halloween Party. They really only took about 30 minutes and have a huge impact when trying to set an impressive table. Other ways you could use this technique would be using team colors (I’m looking at you football fanatics) or school colors for a graduation party! The color possibilities are endless with melting chocolate and great food coloring!

Color Blocked Oreos

Time: 20-30 Minutes
Cost: $5-10
Party matching skills – On fleek (omg what did I just type!?!?)

Supplies:
1 package of Oreos – I went with double stuff, but you can use any kind!
18-24 oz White Chocolate almond bark – separated – usually at this time of year you can find it in large blocks at your local grocery store.

OR two bags candy melts in your chosen colors
Coconut oil
Microwave safe bowls – I just used CLEAN ceramic bowls

1. To begin, set up your baking sheet with the parchment paper and make room in your fridge. The cooling down process is essential.

2. Start with one color chocolate and melt in 30 second bursts, stirring in between each one. Wait until you’ve melted all of your chocolate before adding coloring! Add about 1 tsp coconut oil to thin out the chocolate. This also helps to solidify the chocolate more quickly.

3. Dip oreos about half way, tap off the excess chocolate and gently place on the parchment paper. Do this for as many color blocked oreos as you need then place in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes or until chocolate is solid.

4. While you’re waiting for the oreos to come out, clean up and prepare your next color using the same method.

5. Once your cookies are ready to be removed from the refrigerator, rotate them 90˚ so that the first color takes a vertical position. Dip the cookies half way again and place on the parchment paper – same side down as before. Place back in the fridge for another 20 minutes.

And… thats it! You’re done! Go color block your way into party mode!!!

Don’t forget to PIN for later!

Okay, so flash back a few years. I had just met my dear friend Natalie (who makes awesome jewelry! Check it out) and she was having her 30th birthday party. I had NO CLUE what I was walking into but I ended up finding my tribe… or one of them. You see, Natalie and all of her friends were Doctor Who fans and well, so did I and that was the start to a beautiful geeky friendship. Isn’t it kind of amazing how you find your people when you’re least expecting to?

Crunchy Peanut Butter Cookies with Pic’s Peanut Butter

on August 8, 2016

When I was a kid my dad worked with the 4 Tops. Yes, those 4 Tops. Allow this song to be your jam while baking today.

While he was with them recording their Christmas album, my sister and I would bake cookies for them. I was probably around 7 or 8 at the time, but I very distinctly remember one phone call with my dad where the 4 Tops road manager and long time partner Fred Bridges very loudly asked “Who’s been eating my peanut butter cookies”. To which we all laughed and then sent Fred his own box of crunchy peanut butter cookies. It is due to this incident that peanut butter cookies will forever remain linked to Fred.

Try a twist on the classic recipe. Crunchy Peanut Butter cookies are delicious and sure to please!

I recently came into some deliciously crunchy Pic’s Peanut Butter, this was all I could think of! I really like Pic’s because not only is it all natural, it has a TON of roasted peanuts so there’s a lot more crunch to it. The company also makes cashew butter and almond butter if you’re into that kind of thing.

You know, those events where you’re getting really patriotic and celebrating (or mourning) but I’m not gonna lie, these cookies came out of laziness. Pure and Simple. Problem is though, when you have a blog, people kind of expect you to at least attempt to make things look good and well, I hate to disappoint. It’s a blessing and a curse.

Lemon Poppy Seed Cake Mix Cookies Recipe

on February 19, 2016

I had originally planned to only post this soft, delicious and easy Lemon Poppy Seed Cake Mix Cookies Recipe but this post kind of got away from me. There’s so much I’m learning about life through writing this blog and the experiences I’ve had on the outside that I felt like I HAD to share it.

When the idea of this blog first came about I was excited, but scared. What if I had nothing original to give? What if it didn’t succeed? What if I wasn’t as creative as I thought….
