Start by cleaning your mug with rubbing alcohol to get all of the dust and smudges off. Let it dry.

Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol into one small cup and a small amount of ink into another. With a paintbrush, lightly paint rubbing alcohol from the bottom to the lip on a section of the mug.

Then, dip a second brush into the alcohol ink and lightly dab it around the bottom of the mug where you applied the alcohol. Just the bottom rim, and let it drip down. If you want a more smokey/watercolor look, use a straw and gently blow the ink around until you get the desired design. If you’re unhappy with the look, just wipe it off with some rubbing alcohol and start again.

Alcohol inks are pretty awesome. You just paint them on and all of these cool colors and textures come out as they run! They can be kinda messy, so please be careful as you’re painting them on.

Continue to do this around the entire bottom edge of the mug. Let it dry for 15 minutes.

Apply temporary tattoos as instructed. Cut out the design you want on your mug, I chose Darth Vader of course, gently place it where you want and use a warm damp cotton pad to adhere it to the mug. Gently peel the paper backing off and allow it to dry.

Once the mug is completely dry, flip it over onto a drop cloth and spray it down with ModPodge Acrylic Spray Sealant. Dry for 2 hours and spray again. Repeat this process for a total of 3 times then let it set for 24 to 48 hours. Gently wash with soap and water and your DIY Star Wars Mug is ready to use!

So the real question is…. which will you choose? The wookie cookies? Or the dark?

Will the sealant work with anything else besides temporary tattoos? Other adhesive products like scrapbook letters or something?

Honestly, I’m not sure as I’ve never tried it on anything else. I suppose it would. maybe if you mod podged them on really well before spraying?

If you use Dishwasher Safe mod podge and cure it for the full 28 days (or in an oven) yes. Top rack only. If you use shellack or regular mod podge please only hand wash.
