Mothers day is coming up and I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with a mothers day craft for the kiddos to do that is classy but not just a simple handprint.

So, the story is that I was babysitting the littles one night and they asked for some Ants on a Log. You know… celery and peanut butter topped with raisins? No? take a look.

Some ants on a log to go with your craft?

Anyway, I cut the stalks off and said to myself “huh? You know that base looks a lot like a rose”. And so I’ve had that in my head the whole time for when I needed to stamp something.

Use your left over Celery stalks to make these cute and easy Celery Rose Stamp tea towels for a unique and useful mother's day gift!

The kiddos LOVED that their snack was also their craft and the towels ended up looking super cute and elegant.

Celery Rose Stamp Tea Towels

1 Whole Celery Stalk (Cut to the stalk base)
Red Acrylic Paint
Paint Brush
Tea Towels – I got the cheap bar towels from Ikea, but you can get 12 for $10 on amazon.

This is pretty straight forward. When I’m working with kids, I like to set them up with a work station so as to not make too much of a mess. To do this, I lay out some aluminum foil and set out their supplies on top.

Cut your Celery stalk in half. Notice the rose pattern? You can either bind up the top half of the stalk and use it as another stamp OR make some ants on a log.

Use the paintbrush to spread a thin layer of red paint onto the celery stalk or allow kiddos to dip straight into the paint. Seriously, this craft is so easy I’m not sure you’ll need more instructions.

Pro Tip: Be careful not to rock back and forth on the stamp too much. It can cause a big smudge otherwise.

We also used the celery rose stamp to make some really cute cards to attach to the tea towels for Mom.

OMG Right! I’m currently debating on if I want to re-do my couch pillows with this concept. I don’t think my dude roomie would be too thrilled with flowers everywhere though. Ha!

[…] Celery Rose Stamp Tea Towels – These are ADORABLE! I’m not sure about the paint staying on through the wash though and have my doubts about the usability of these after being stamped. However, if they were going to be purely decorative, then go for it! Also, I’m sure you can find some tea towels at the thrift store for super cheap! Score! […]
