Do you guys ever feel like you’re just spinning your wheels? Like one step forward, two steps back kinda thing? Yep. Right there with you. I’ve been trying to take a step back and get things into perspective lately. Learning what “self care” means and what it actually means for me.

One of the things I’ve started doing is crafting just to create. For no other reason than the joy of it. I know you are all going to be flabbergasted, but I have been buying  craft kits and making all sorts of things like bunnies, macrame, scarves... etc. It has helped bring the joy of crafting back because I’m not stressed about taking photos, or being “original”, I just do.  What are you doing for self care?

These Ombre Rose Cork Coasters came out of one of those creative spurts. I was looking at supplies I had on hand and was watching the classic Beauty and the Beast and just felt like creating. I figured it might be something you all would like to try, so I repeated the project, took some photos and VOILA! All yours! Get in the zone with your bad self while you cut out tiny pieces of cork board while listening to some Gaslight Anthem… or maybe that’s just me.

Okay, show of hands… who has been downright obsessed with the Nintendo Switch lately? If you raised your hand, you’re not the only one. The last few days have been spent in this weird pizza and wine fueled haze of Zelda: Breath of the Wild  and too few hours of sleep in between craft projects and work. I feel like I’m back in college discovering Kingdom Hearts and not coming out of my dorm room for days. You guys!!! I have regressed! Is there a support group for this? I’m sure it’ll wear off right? Right?

Okay, so video game playing aside I’m working on getting in to
uch with the side of me that says… “I don’t care what everyone thinks, if I like it, I’m gonna wear it!” That side coupled with my “Hey I can do that for cheaper” side has resulted in this really awesome geek chic perler bead statement necklace. Pretty cool right? Even better, it was basically free using products I already had on hand from other projects. Don’t worry though, start up costs are minimal and super rewarding. Especially if you have a class full of 6-12 year olds that you have to keep quiet and busy and don’t have a Disney movie handy.

When I was a kid Easter was this magical experience. Like Christmas but with pastels. It’s the start of spring and the end of lent and one year we got honest to God bunnies. Like real ones! I remember waking up every year to a trail of hershey kisses or jelly beans or whatever my parents decided to lay out that year and go on this epic hunt with my sister to find our Easter baskets. They never disappointed either! Then we all dressed in super frilly dresses (because that is what one does when they’re seven years old on Easter) and headed off to Church. As an adult without my own kids, I still try to keep that magic around whether it’s with the kids I babysit for or with my friends. In recent years we’ve done Easter basket exchanges, a bit like secret santa, but you know…. with bunnies and chocolate crosses and wine. Yep. This year, I’m showing you how to make your own unique Tassel Basket for Easter goodies to impress your friends and make yourself feel classy AF.

If you’re like me, you’ve learned to crochet and you’ve got the basics down. You can single and double crochet with the best of them…. heck you are a wiz at granny squares… but you’re looking for something more practical and cute to do with your skills. Does this sound like you? Are you still in the beginner crochet step? It’s cool. This free Beginner Crochet Beach Bag is for crafters of all skill levels and makes a beautiful suzette stitch that no one will even have to know how easy it is! In fact, the suzette stitch is a great one to have in your arsenal. It works up a beautiful thick but breathable texture that is great for any number of projects.

If you're looking for a quick and fashionable summer project, check out this beginner crochet beach bag using the suzette stitch.

This inspiration for this bag came from a recent trip to the beach (because apparently Los Angeles decided to skip spring all together and go right into summer) wherein my favorite beach bag not only broke but got covered in sunscreen. Cue dramatic freaking out noise. So!!! In a fit of crochet desperation and some love for Pantone’s color of the year (and my birth stone!) I made a bag. Since it’s cotton yarn I can wash it on gentle. So if someone spills juice or apple sauce or sunscreen, I don’t have 30 minutes of wet wiping ahead of me. AND!!!! It’s versatile! If you don’t live near the beach, this bag also works wonderful as a fashionable market bag. Pretty cool right? So grab a crochet needle, sit down with Lilo and Stitch (and some other fun Disney movies) and let’s make all the things!

Celebrate Disney's Beauty and the Beast and add a little charm to your glass with these Disneymoji DIY Disney Wine Charms!

Everyone has their princess. Mine was Belle. I loved her. I wanted to be her. She was straight up magical. I think I connected with her most because she didn’t really have any friends. She was weird. She liked books. Because apparently being a bookworm is bad… but I digress. Belle was my princess. So when Disney announced that they were making a live action Beauty and the Beast? I pretty much lost it in my excitement. There was a gasp and flailing. Seriously guys! Anyhoo… now that I’m older I get to enjoy the magic all over again with my fave gal pals. But this time, we’re having wine! (please read that in a cool movie announcer voice)

I created these Beauty and the Beast Wine Charms based on the Disney Emojis and I gotta say… I’m in love! So grab your 25th Anniversary Edition DVD, your chosen beverage and some supplies. We’re gonna make something fun!

Shamrock Shakes are back and I am one happy camper. Okay, maybe thats a lie… but I’m close! One of the many joys of being an adult is the addition of alcohol to otherwise normal foods. Like Cupcakes or coffee. Because YUM! So of course I had to present you with the wonders that is the boozy shamrock shake! Even better…. I made it into a freakshake!

This project is intended for makers ages 21+. If you are under the age of 21, please omit the alcohol.

I’m sure a lot of you are asking what exactly is a freakshake? Well… its kind of like a milkshake that’s been turned up to 11 or maybe 111. You know… somewhere in between. It’s where you take whatever drink you like and load it with all the tastiness of foods that compliment it. And let me tell you, it is a total feast for the eyes and the stomache. Just make sure to share with a friend because you’ll both be in a sugar coma after eating one.

I don’t know about you guys but I need at least 2 cups of coffee in the morning to actually move my butt. Like big cups. Like biggest setting on the Keurig big. Before that I look and feel like something that just stepped out of the Walking Dead… and not one of the good guys. As a result I am always looking for a fun large coffee mug to bring at least a little morning happiness to my otherwise horror show of a morning. Especially those early wakeup calls! 5 am is not my friend!!! Okay, so this project is basically an attempt to make my mornings less of a scary TV show and more of a… well… a “good” morning. See how to use tissue paper to transform plain large coffee mugs with a confetti design – a simple DIY!

Printable Galentines Coloring Page

This post was sponsored by Oriental Trading and may contain affiliate links. Shopping from those links helps support this blog and my cupcake addiction.

I’m finally jumping into this adult coloring trend… I know! I know! None of you were surprised. I get it. That being said, I’m with kiddos so much that I just end up coloring in their books and we call it a day. I’ve also been falling back in love with crayons. Colored pencils are great and all, but crayons can be so versatile… that and its usually what we have around the house so littles don’t accidentally poke their eyes out.

But I digress… One of my favorite things to have at the coffee table during a get together are fun coloring pages. I feel that they give people something to do while they’re chatting or waiting for others to come. They also really set the mood for a fun creative party. For my Galentines day party this year I created my own printable Galentines Coloring Page with one of my favorite Leslie Knope sayings!

Hoes before bros
Ovaries before brovaries
Uteruses before duderuses
-Leslie Knope

This year I got super creative and also made some fun layered ring crayons with some products from Oriental Trading. Guests were encouraged to “put a ring on it” and color to their hearts content!
